Keencut Ltd. [Corby, UK] – Product Design Engineer 01/2022-
- Developed and drafted designs with Alibre to enhance a vertical cutting machine’s functional usability and ergonomics for more modern cutting materials, whilst focusing on the company side extrusion cost savings and logistical implications. A 5% overall machine cost reduction was established while simultaneously instituting a greater number of user end feature improvements from the previous generation.
- Conducted extensive redesign, prototyping, and testing on a market leading sign making cutting machine, to provide much improved cutting accuracy “Out of the box”, eliminating user-end adjustments, and delivering a much-simplified user-end machine installation.
- Drafted production drawings that accounted for tight Critical to Quality (CTQ) dimensions and multi-component tolerance stack-ups, in accordance with ISO 286 standards, to deliver “Out of the box” precision accuracy.
- Successfully reviewed and amended the standardized cutting arm design in all vertical cutting machines to create a 25% cost reduction, following a nationwide surge in material costs.
John Harvey Engineering Ltd. [Suffolk, UK] - Junior Mechanical Design Engineer 03/2020 – 07/2020
- Conducted an extensive team project of generating the components and assembly design for a multi-head drill machine based off onsite stock to increase the worksite’s drilling capabilities to multiple longer RHS sets, all whilst ensuring minimal costs.
- Managed design variations of NFR AI tent structures and floorplans to encompass various boar and sow pens to improve speed and handling. This included tailor made specifications.
- Redesigned beetle hut fenders to be appropriate for HDPE molding over welding and ready for patenting.
BTM Innovations [Birmingham, UK] - Product D&D Mechanical Engineer 09/2019 – 03/2020
- Created a range of unique multifunctional frame rig slider attachments capable of fitting on a variety of readily available gym rigs. Managed the entire portfolio of products for this project leading from the front.
- Drafted an extensive set of drawings in frequent cooperation with the external manufacturing site and the respective welding and lasering teams. Created a series of prototypes, including 3D printed models, to finalize the ideal attachment products given the unique nature of the designs.
