I am a highly motivated, friendly, confident, compassionate, caring and assertive worker who can work well in a fast paced environment. I am a reliable and professional person who has a can do approach to everything. All tasks given are dealt with good communication and interpersonal skills thriving for success in any given role. I am always looking to improve my skills and am currently studying a degree with The Open University in Psychology and Counselling.
I have been in my current role for nearly 2 years working in a specialist SEN high school with complex needs children. I have been able to develop my knowledge around Autism, ADHD, GDD and PDA and feel that I have learnt so much which makes me confident that the work that I do makes a big difference to children and families. I have been able to work on strategies with the children to help regulation and support them in whichever way they need.
In this role we often have to adapt learning materials to meet the children’s individual needs and learning styles as well as implementing visual timetables, now and next boards, reward charts and visual prompts for them to be able to complete tasks. I have worked with some of the children on Speech & Language, phonics and supported with their sensory needs. A major part of my role is building positive and trusting relationships which supports their wellbeing and engagement.
I have also undergone a 2 day SCIP training course so that I am equipped to support and de-escalate situations that often occur with dysregulated children.
I am currently studying Psychology and Counselling at Open University and am hoping to work towards a new job role where i can make use of these new skills.
