Key modules

• “The Editor” This module helped refine my editorial skills and expand my knowledge of the publishing industry.
• “The Book Publishing Industry” I learned about the different departments and the importance for collective teamwork. 
• “The English Project” For my dissertation I focused on how the environment is presented in Children’s literature. This led me to question the notion of humanity and the importance of sustainability, particularly within the publishing industry.

I have experience with InDesign as this was the software that I used during my publishing seminars. Often, I had to set up margins myself and add pages as well as linking to other pages within the same document or linking to a website. I often used this software with the help of a guidebook from my university tutors which allowed me to work independently.

As stated on my CV, I undertook a placement year. During this time I edited an aspiring authors novel using Track Changes within Microsoft Word. This was very beneficial as it helped me develop a working and respectful relationship with an author.

Throughout this I learned how to give constructive criticism as well as developed an understanding of the importance of giving praise to an author to maintain a positive relationship. By undertaking this I became more aware and understanding of the bond between an author and their work.
