Network Rearrangement Project Professional - Openreach

Management of Rearrangement projects to produce cost effective diversionary solutions within the Access network.
- Preparation of draft specifications and budget estimate of costs.
- Surveying the network to ensure that effective plans can be made to facilitate diversion requests, whilst maintaining the integrity of our apparatus.
- Utilising various systems (ACTS, Rebuild, Piper, GeoHub, INS, COSMOSS, CSS, Candid) to aid in planning work.
- Using project management skills to create various charts, briefings, and presentations to be delivered to contractors, DL, management, and key stakeholders.
- Providing support and supervision to DL and Civils teams completing the planned works.
- Ensuring work is carried out within the LN550 & LN320 specifications and guidelines.
- Moving PCP's and DSLAM's as requested by third parties, and when deemed to be unsafe.
- Liaising with clients throughout the project to ensure deadlines are met and any issues resolved.
- Using problem solving skills to overcome any issues identified during the project.
- Working under pressure and to strict timelines.
- Ensuring work is completed in compliance with quality and legal requirements as set out in ISIS and legal documentation.
- Liaising with all lines of business on all levels (Highways Authority, Government, council, local authorities, residential).
- Understanding of Network legislation such as NRSWA and ensuring my knowledge is up to date.
- Carrying out a full review of the work and costs for all completed projects and managing change control and recovering costs via Candid for sub-standard work.

Precision Test Officer - Openreach

Maintaining the core Fibre Optic network and reacting to live faults.
- Reacting to live faults (FRACs) on all Fibre technologies (Ethernet, FTTP, FTTC, SDH, Dark Fibre etc.)
- Pinpointing faults, and if possible, completing the repairs within 5 hours to meet SLAs agreed with Ofcom.
- Attended major breakdowns such as damage by third parties, where I gathered information so that the DCU could be informed, and costs could be recovered from the relevant parties.
- Planning repairs and delegating to engineers so that services could be restored promptly and efficiently.
- Arranging PEWs (Planned Engineering Works) to allow for cable changeovers and repairs.
- Reacting to DSO escalations on provision/repair work.
- When not working on faults, completing installation work as per my previous role with an emphasis on tails work as one of the most experienced engineers.
- Reading/updating INS, COSMOSS, GeoHub to record any updates that I made to the network.
- On call 1 week in 2 to cover all repair work.
- Assisted in training new recruits.
- Completed 'Nasty Node' uplifts to enable nodes to be worked in safely, and to free up much needed capacity in the network.
Fibre Optics Technician - BT Openreach

Completing Fibre Optic installation work, primarily on Ethernet.
- Installation and repair of high-speed business connections.
- Installing core spine networks from telephone exchanges.
- Completing cabling elements as required.
- On-call to support PTOs in Staffordshire and Manchester in repairing faults across all Fibre Optic technologies.
- Completing installation of the NGA FTTC network at the beginning of the roll-out.
- Providing cover for Manager and Patch leads as and when required.

- Trained in various aspects of Telecommunications, including Copper, Fibre, Cabling and Private circuit repair.
