Team Member/Supervisor - Greggs

While studying for my A-Levels previously and currently studying at University, I have consistently worked at Greggs, balancing a demanding academic schedule with a part-time job as a Team Member and eventually Supervisor. This experience has helped me develop key skills such as communication, time management, and adaptability in a busy customer-facing environment.

• Serve customers on tills, handle transactions, and provide excellent customer service.
• Prepare, cook, and pack orders for in-store customers and online platforms (JustEat/UberEats).
• Maintain cleanliness of the shop floor and assist with stock rotation and restocking duties.
• Adapted to temporary store closures by working at alternative locations (Brierley Hill, Halesowen, Pensnett), quickly integrating with new teams and processes.
• As a supervisor, it is required to; close tills, note the income, close the store and prepare for the following day, all while leading a team.

Freelance Leaflet Distributor - Kempton Installation Systems

Alongside my job at Greggs, I was offered a temporary freelance role distributing promotional materials for a local roofing company. Working independently helped me strengthen my communication skills, initiative, and ability to manage my time effectively.

• Deliver leaflets door-to-door across set routes in areas in and around the 'black country' such as Stourbridge, Bromsgrove, Kidderminster, Bewdley, Hagley, etc.
• Involved promotion of the company's services by engaging in brief conversations with members of the public, advising them to take a leaflet and answering basic enquiries.
• Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation, reliability, and consistency.
• Required to schedule for a suitable time to deliver as well as scheduling the shifts to fit around other work commitments, showing strong organisational and punctual skills.

Work Experience Placement - VIP Home Interiors Ltd

(2022-06 - 2022-06)

Completed a one-week placement to explore hands-on elements of the interior design trade, with a focus on plastering and basic electrical tasks.

• Shadowed professionals and supported tasks like surface prep and material mixing.
• Assisted in basic electrical fittings and gained awareness of safety procedures.
• Observed the coordination between trades in interior renovation projects.

Geology Volunteer - Dudley Museum at The Archives - Dudley

Completed a short voluntary placement spanning over a handful of days at Dudley Museum at The Archives (Dudley) to deepen my A-Level geology knowledge and gain insight into careers in geosciences.

• Worked with Graham Worton, Keeper of Geology and Geopark Project Coordinator.
• Learned about local geological history and curatorial responsibilities.
• Gained insight into the Black Country UNESCO Global Geopark project and public science outreach.

I had a brief period of work experience with VIP Home Interiors again in 2024, acting as a general labourer and 'handyman'. There were several tasks, such as moving material, as well as fitting plaster boards and fitting spotlight wires.
