- Building relationships with prisoners to help them achieve set goals throughout their prison sentence
- This can include personal goals, (ie - to learn how to read / write), or sentence driven goals (ie – alcohol / drug rehabilitation)
- To maintain order throughout the prison
- This can include using authorised, physical Control and Restraint procedures
- To assist any prisoners in severe distress
- This can include physical self-harm, bullying, personal issues outside of the prison and poor mental health
