Lily Madill Parker

I am eager to pursue a career in Exhibition Curation. I am a motivated and diligent individual with a keen interest in expanding access to art galleries and museums through curation of the physical exhibition and engagement with diverse local communities. I have recently graduated with an MA (Hons) in History of Art and English Literature from the University of Edinburgh.

In my final year dissertation, I explored the significance of interaction, identity, and representation of marginalized groups, focusing on feminist and anti-colonial expression in performance art.

The interdisciplinary nature of my degree has equipped me with a broad skill set, including analytical and critical thinking, visual and close analysis. These skills, combined with my creative mindset and strong interpersonal and communication abilities, make me a highly adaptable and innovative team member. My academic and personal experiences as an exchange student at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, developed my understanding of different cultural perspectives, specifically of local Indigenous communities.

This experience has enriched my critical approach to colonial structures and knowledge within Art Historical Institutions and enhanced my understanding of climate studies and ecological art.

I am a recent History of Art and English Literature graduate from the University of Edinburgh with experience in gallery assistance and art education. I have worked as a Gallery Assistant at Orleans House and completed a two-week tutoring role at Lingua Senza Frontiere, an Italian summer camp focused on cultural education. My dissertation explored contemporary feminist and postcolonial art, reflecting my passion for widening access to art and art institutions.

I also hold a place on the prestigious internship programme at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, further advancing my professional development in the arts sector.

I graduated with a 2:1 in History of Art and English Literature from the University of Edinburgh, where I focused my dissertation on contemporary feminist and postcolonial art. During my studies, I completed a year abroad in Vancouver, which enriched my academic and personal development. I also held committee roles in university societies, including the Feminist Society, gaining valuable leadership and organisational experience.

Prior to university, I achieved A-levels in English Literature (A*), Politics (A*), and History (A) at Woodhouse College, providing a strong foundation for my further education.
