About
I am a hard worker and very keen to learn. I listen and follow instructions carefully and continue to work until the task is complete. I am quite happy working on my own but also really enjoy being part of a team. I am polite and well-mannered. I have a good sense of humour, and I think I am easy to get on with, as I make friends easily. I will always help anyone that needs it and if I have completed a task that was set for me, I would always help other people to complete their work.
Experience
Volunteer at Care Farm
I spent 9 months volunteering at a Care Farm on Saturdays in the village I live in.
- I fed and watered the animals and topped up or changed bedding as required.
- I looked after goats, pigs, sheep, a variety of poultry birds, peacocks, rabbits and guinea pigs.
- During the week the farm is attended by adults and children with learning difficulties, so they help with the animals but at weekends they rely on volunteers to do it.
- I had to learn about the hygiene rules relating to the animals to ensure no cross contamination and spreading of any disease such as bird flu.
Work Experience at Ben Burgess Ltd For my week’s work experience while I was school, I went to Ben Burgess Ltd and worked in their service and maintenance workshop, which I really enjoyed and got on well with the people that worked there.
Work Experience at Lovell Partnerships In July I spent three days on the Lovell Partnerships site at Hopton working with the Carpenters for two days and the Bricklayers for the other day. I really enjoyed both but decided that I would like to focus on Carpentry which is what I am studying now.
Kitchen Assistant at The Cottage
I have worked some ad hoc shifts in the kitchen at The Cottage in Thorpe, to cover holidays, sickness and at busy times.
- This involved vegetable and salad preparation, assisting with starter and dessert dishes as well as washing pots and pans and using the dishwasher.
- I also clean the fridges and food storage areas.
- This is something I enjoy as it’s a great feeling to work as part of the team and know that I make a difference by being able to help the chefs.
- I learned about health and safety in the kitchen, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, the importance of separating food preparation areas for raw and cooked meat, vegetarian and vegan dishes, gluten free and other specific allergies.
Kitchen Assistant at Pettitt’s (2026 – 2026)
I have been working as a kitchen assistant in the café at Pettitt’s in Reedham over the holiday season.
- This involved food preparation, cooking, pot wash, kitchen cleaning, H&S paperwork, working on the till and serving food to customers.
