I am a very driven person and want to succeed in whatever I am doing. If I want something, I am willing to put the required work in to achieve it. I am sporty and athletic and maintain a good level of fitness in order to keep my body and mind healthy.
I am able to work independently using my own initiative as well as being able to work as part of a team. I can be highly competitive although I have a good level of social awareness and am very open minded, accepting and non-judgemental of others, I enjoy meeting new people and learning from other people's experiences as well as sharing my own. I treat everyone the same no matter your social status or achievements, this allows me to work in a wide range of environments with all kinds of people.
I am also reliable, responsible, punctual, and well organised.
Police Officer at Sussex Police (2025-01 – 2025-07)
During my 16 weeks foundational training programme I was singled out by the trainer as making exceptionally good decisions in a particular demanding exercise. In the trainer's view, I made the right decision rather than the popular decision. This was something the trainer had not experienced in the number of years training police recruits at Lewes HQ training centre.
The trainer considered my superiors should be aware of my decision making and therefore informed all my relevant senior officers. I obtained a Certificate of Attestation during my training. After my training I became operational.
During my operational time I encountered numerous demanding situations, with success. The above require formal reports to be completed, therefore, there is a requirement to have a selfless attitude to complete reports on behalf of the team, well after "clocking off" time. Unlike my previous employments, working for Sussex Police provided me with the platform to practise and develop my skills.
Campus Security Officer at University of Brighton (Present)
Working within the Estates and Facilities Management department. The role was heavily focused on CCTV control room duties and building access control. The role also required community engagement and first aid response for all staff and students onsite ensuring the safety and security/welfare for anyone onsite or part of the University of Brighton community.
Security Officer/Door Supervisor at BN1 Security, Pagoda Security, Resolve Security Solutions
I have been a Security Officer/Door Supervisor for 5 years and have experience in a wide variety of work. I have worked as a Door Supervisor in nightclubs/pubs and bars. I have also been involved with Mobile response driving (alarm response/key holding and venue support).
I also have experience in static guarding/patrols for different sites and have been involved community-based roles such as being a Night safety marshal which involved working with members of public and the wider community creating a respected presence within the community to ensure the environment is running as expected ensuring everyone is safe. I value communication aside anything in a security role as well as being part of a reliable team around me. From my experience I have discovered that communication and approachability are vital in many, if not all roles within the security industry.
Commando Recruit at Royal Marines (2023-10 – 2024-02)
I successfully completed the Royal Marine Commando Training application process. I was successful in the DAA (Defence Aptitude Assessment), PJFT+ (Pre-Joining Fitness Test Plus), CPC (Candidate Preparation Course). I was fully accepted and enrolled onto recruit training, during this phase I made a 28-day Attestation to commit to service.
Unfortunately, throughout the process I soon realised military life was not for me. However, I left on good terms with all recruits and training team involved in my journey. There was a good level of respect and understanding between myself and the training team regarding my decision.
I was discharged on medical/personal grounds for a minor knee injury I had previously dealt with prior to training, after conversations with the doctor it would have been unreasonable to keep me on the training programme having not been able to perform the fitness sessions paired with my decision to leave after the 28days of service. Therefore, I was discharged. The 4 pillars of the commando spirit consist of the following: (Courage, Determination, Unselfishness and Cheerfulness in the face of adversity) I believe these core values have enabled me to develop an even stronger mindset moving forward into any area I choose.
I learned a great deal of importance with regards to teamwork and how the actions of individuals can greatly affect the production of a task or goal that is trying to be achieved. Although my service was short, I gained a great deal of knowledge/experience and transferable skills from Royal Marine Commando Training that can relate with any industry/organization, typically in the public service sector.
Signalling and Telecoms Apprentice at Network Rail (2019-09 – 2021-06)
I was a Network Rail apprentice for 2 years. I started the apprenticeship in Coventry (September 2019) for 6 months where I stayed in accommodation while I undertook training as part of the apprenticeship scheme. This mainly consisted of health and safety training learning about industry standards and company policies, I also learned basic electronic principles as well as practical skills in workshops.
This gave me a good level of understanding on the business, standards and electrical knowledge. After my 6 months in Coventry I spent around 18 months working on the railway infrastructure where I would work on open lines with the fault and maintenance teams taking voltages and measurements on the electrical and mechanical equipment used within the signalling systems on the railway. I learned a great deal of importance on health and safety and industrial electrical work and worked at various depots located around the Sussex region.
I also worked within the works delivery department (Renewals) where we would install or remove new and existing signalling equipment such as points machines, signals and track circuit modules. Unfortunately, I left the apprenticeship without completion as my circumstances changed and no longer felt this was the right career choice for me. I have taken a lot of experience from the 2 years I spent at Network Rail which will help me succeed further.
