My passion for science has continued to develop throughout my academic career. After graduating with my First Class BSc from the University of Liverpool in 2020, I secured a position in an active research laboratory in the United States alongside studying for my Master’s degree in Biology. During the past two years especially, I have developed the ability to balance multiple projects, work collaboratively in a dynamic research group and successfully meet deadlines in a professional environment.
Throughout my academic career I have studied extensive volumes of both scientific and medical literature. I have advanced my ability to critically analyse scientific writing through frequently peer-reviewing and editing manuscripts for a range of journals including The American Journal of Physiology. Importantly, I have practiced my own writing skills on a daily basis, producing weekly reports, abstracts and a total of three manuscripts.
Specifically, I have co-first authored two manuscripts, one currently in press and the other under revision. I also have a sole first author manuscript in preparation, ready to submit imminently. I feel confident with a range of scientific jargon and am able to write succinctly, interpret and present data effectively, and adapt my writing style to different audiences.
I believe writing has become one of my strongest attributes and would love the opportunity to further explore this avenue.
