I'm Lucy, a second-year History student at the University of Edinburgh with experience in, and an interest for, hospitality and customer service. I bring energy and a positive attitude, and my time at University has demonstrated that I really enjoy being in a busy, social environment, especially where there’s a strong sense of teamwork. I also enjoy chatting to people and making them feel welcome, whether that’s through serving them quickly and efficiently or just having a friendly conversation.
Outside of my studies, I am committed to the Edinburgh University Boat Club where, as a cox, I lead and coach a high-performance crew, plan race strategies, and make calm, clear decisions under pressure at national competitions — skills in teamwork, reliability, and communication.
I'm friendly, punctual, detail-oriented, and comfortable adapting my approach to different people and situations, and as a student I can offer flexibility with shifts. I live locally and would love the chance to bring my energy and dedication to a welcoming team.
I have practical experience in both customer-facing and professional office settings. During a part-time role at Bekonscot Model Village in 2023, I handled cash and card payments, carried out end-of-day cash-ups, and provided high-quality customer service to visitors of all ages, including welcoming guests and resolving queries with patience. I also drove and operated a light railway, ensuring passenger safety, and oversaw a network of model trains and tracks, troubleshooting faults as they arose.
In a different setting, I completed work experience at Freeths LLP in Oxford, where I worked within the Family Law solicitors' team, reading and accurately summarising case files, communicating with clients and barrister chambers by email and telephone, and maintaining strict confidentiality in line with data protection policies. Alongside this, I have volunteered with Kings Cross Academy, Mabel Prichard School, a local Rainbows Unit, and Sport in Mind, broadening my experience of working with different groups and individuals. Together, these roles have given me a strong foundation in communication, reliability, and delivering excellent service under pressure.
