The Body Shop, Colchester – July 2017
Position: Temporary Customer Assistant
I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to complete one week’s work experience at The Body Shop in Colchester as part of secondary education work experience scheme. Throughout the week I learned various processes and procedures including the health and safety regulations to be considered in the workplace.
My duties included
- Taking delivery of stock
- Stock room management and a stock process called list and pull
- Greeting customers and helping with their products queries
- Restocked products and ensured products were forward facing
- Creating gift baskets and pricing ready for sale
I found my placement at The Body Shop very enjoyable. This experience has made me realise that communication, listening and teamwork within the working environment are very important aspects to be successful. One new skill that I learnt during the week was how to provide good customer service. I felt that by the end of the week I gained a lot more confidence in talking to the customers and how best to help them. On my final day, I received feedback from my supervisor, who said I had excellent punctuality, great relationships with the staff, independence, and an outstanding overall performance. Colleagues whom I had worked with during the week also said that I was a great team player and very enthusiastic and polite.
