Hi there my names Luke John and I have been an HGV CLASS 2 Driver for over 4 years. I am a very driven individual, I am focused, I like a very busy workload to keep me motivated and pushing me to my limits to succeed like I know I can, I take my time when necessary. I'm a down-to-earth guy and have got on well with any team I have worked within the past.

I've got a vast amount of experience in the roads and am currently looking into completing my class 1 driver's license. I want a change and a new challenge to take on.

Class 2 HGV Driver - Smith Brothers

I have been in this role at Smith Brothers for over 4 years now, it is the first company I got in with after passing my class 2. I have learnt so much being here and experiencing the roads and customers first hand.

• Wagon checks every morning
• Overseeing my driving hours correctly
• Securing my load each day with ratchet straps
• Ability to use the tail lift as and when required
• In house trained on using a HIAB
• Use of a pump truck to offload the pallets
• Knowledge of the roads across the country i.e. London, Scotland, Wales etc
• Good customer service when delivering to the customers
• Ensuring paperwork is signed by customers to confirm receipt of goods
• Use of a PDA

Covid tests/Post collection - Royal Mail

I started this role as a Sunday job in November 2021. As I enjoy driving and was still completing my HGV class 2 license at the time, I thought what better way to give me full day driving experience.

• Check the vehicle before leaving the Depo for any faults etc
• I had 20-30 post stop pick-ups to do per shift
• When completing pick up and returning to Depo I would then go on to sort out all what I had picked up

Slitter Operator - Manufacturing Company

I have been in this role for a year now, firstly as a trainee, as I have done some slitter jobs before but never full time. I have learnt how to use all the equipment, what to do and what not to do.

• Working the slitting line
• Setting the slitting machines
• Putting coils on and off the slitting machine using overhead cranes
• Slitting metal to all different sizes
• Using Vernia's and pin mics to measure the material to the correct size

Christmas Temp Royal Mail Delivery Driver - Royal Mail

I started here as a winter driver man (temporary).

• I have to sort out the post/parcels in the warehouse for my round before going out
• I drive my own van which I have to inspect before leaving the yard checking all lights work, checking the tyres and mirrors
• I have my own rounds where I deliver letters & parcels to the public
• Have a well-mannered attitude and good customer service
• I am flexible with times and can work round any shifts they give me

Refuse Collector - Dudley Council

Since the start of lockdown I then went onto working for Dudley Council as a bin man on the recycling/green waste wagons.

• Ensuring we collected every householder's bin in an efficient way and making sure it was only recycled items we were taking
• We collected glass bottles, paper, plastics all sorts
• Made sure we loaded the wagons up right
• Made sure I was on time every morning so we could get around to all the streets on time
• Available whenever needed even on booked days off if they needed someone, I would go in to help

After 2 years at Bird Stevens I left and joined M.J. Sections as it was a bigger company, producing bigger things and I thought it was a great opportunity to better myself. Which it was because it was here where I became a Fabricator.

For two years I had experience doing sheet metal work for a company called Birds Stevens where after a year I was promoted to a team leader. Here we produced bins for the councils.
