Luke Race

My name is Luke Race and I am a 21 year old, second year student, studying Marketing and Management at Loughborough University. As part of my course, I am required to complete a placement year, before returning back to university for my final year. I am currently searching for a placement year in any form of marketing.

With experience in product design and manufacture, as well as promotional activities and events planning, I believe I can bring this knowledge into industry, to help a company achieve their marketing objectives.

The Mooring’s, Barrow Upon Soar – Bartender 2022-Present

• Served customers behind bar on event nights in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining quality, where queues were constant for hours, leaving no room for error.
• Communicated with customers regularly, to answer any queries and take bookings or payments.
• Helped run events, such as quiz nights or live bad nights, when work never slowed down. 
• Adapted to different job roles, due to employee absences, including bartending, waitering, food and drinks running, and welcoming the guests. 

Waterfront Café, York – Waiter 2021-Present

• Promoted events and new menus to retain guests, by selling both the product and the experience.
• Communicated with customers and staff to ensure they were given exactly what they ordered, particularly when it came to allergies or special guest requirements.

Student Property Letting Services, York – Internship Summer 2020

• Designed leaflets, to promote available properties, expressing my creativity and marketing skills.
• Analysed accounts with precision, acquiring financial and attention to detail skills.

• Designed innovative outdoor furniture, requiring me to express creativity and decision-making skills. 
• Analysed The Marketing Mix, to ensure the product would represent the wants and needs of users. 
• Conducted primary research, leading to greater data analysis and problem-solving skills.
