Harper Adams Engineering courses are targeted at Mechanical Engineering in the Land based sector and take an applied approach throughout the course. Throughout the programme students learn the theory and demonstrate understanding in an applied context.

Relevant modules include

• Masters Engineering Project: Sponsored by Mercedes Benz Truck UK to investigate the feasibility of implementation of stop-start systems in the off-highway sector, particularly the Unimog platform. This involved utilising various data collection tools (Dewesoft) to collect test data from CANBUS network and externally fitted instrumentation. A model of the Unimog OM963 engine was produced in Realis (Ricardo) WAVE to compare theoretical data against real world to produce confidence in predictions.
• Advanced Stress Analysis: The ability to explain and demonstrate the limitations in applying theoretical structural analysis to combined loadings and to apply and communicate an appropriate process for the resolution of a given problem in a commercially produced complex mechanical system. Whilst also making data driven judgements on suitable materials and manufacturing processes to achieve a cost effective, sustainable solution which satisfies given requirements.
• Strategic Management: Demonstration of principles rooted in international finance and economics to inform strategic business planning and operational endeavours. Proficient in rationalizing the integration of multifaceted organizational functions crucial for the seamless operation of international enterprises. Equipped with adept cultural and political awareness, effective communication prowess, stakeholder management finesse, and self-management skills within the realm of international relationships.
