- Prepare work sites, including setting up safety barriers, cones, and appropriate signage
- Perform roding and roping, and utilise cable pulling equipment
- Interpret and work from engineering diagrams, schematics, and detailed fibre network designs
- Identify and select appropriate fibre optic cables and components for each installation
- Execute splicing of fibre optic cables, ensuring minimal signal loss and optimal performance
- Prepare fibre ends for splicing, including stripping, cleaning, and accurate cleaving
- Operate and maintain fusion splicers, cleavers, and other specialist splicing tools
- Install and manage fibre within various enclosures, splice trays, and distribution frames
- Conduct testing of fibre optic networks using specialised equipment such as Optical Loss Test Sets (OLTS – Power Meter and Light Source)
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including splice diagrams, test results, materials used, and time spent
- Complete job sheets, risk assessments, and other administrative documentation meticulously
- Provide regular progress updates to Project Managers and relevant stakeholders
- Installing external telecommunication infrastructure including underground ducts/conduits and pits
- Installing/hauling external telecommunication cables, both aerial/overhead and underground cables

- Installing internal telecommunication devices including switches/routers, NTDs, telephone, and PCs
