Healthcare Assistant - Spire Health care Norwich - Old Watton Road, NR4 7TD

I have been working as a healthcare assistant at Spire for the last four years. I have developed a wide variety of skills in the following departments: Ophthalmology, General outpatients such as cardiology, colorectal, gynecology, ENT and phlebotomy. Working in ophthalmology has allowed me to gain skills within diagnostic technology.

This includes visual field tests, topography and OCT scanning. This is a valuable skill set to have within this clinic as it allows consultants to make their diagnosis, ensuring that patients achieve positive outcomes. I carry out pre assessments for patients awaiting surgery.

This includes cataract surgery and minor surgical procedures such as cyst removals. This ensures patients' concerns are eased prior to surgery. My goal is to make sure every patient comes away with a positive and calming experience.

Working in General outpatients, I have further developed my current skills such as phlebotomy, use of ECGS and chaperoning. I have gained skills in colorectal and gynecology services such as assisting with hemorrhoid banding and internal biopsy procedures. Health Care Assistant - St Stephens Gate Medical Practice - 55 Wessex St, NR2 2TJ

I independently ran clinics where I undertook duties such as phlebotomy, blood pressure, covid vaccinations and ECGs. The job highlighted my good communication skills and time management. I know what it's like to work under pressure and the importance of gaining an individual's trust and respecting their confidentiality.

I gained the experience of working with a variety of different people from different backgrounds and ethnicities. My role at St Stephens Gate Medical Practice also included working alongside their surgical department N2S- Norwich and Norfolk Surgical LTD. I would work as part of the theatre team for cataract surgery and run clinics carrying out pre assessments.

I lead an internal training course for the staff of St Stevens, explaining what I must do at the pre assessments to give them a better understanding of how N2S works.
