Women’s Health Matters, Leeds Junior Project Worker | (October 2022-March 2024)
Project worker across multiple services within Leeds based charity Women’s Health Matters.
Using a trauma-informed approach alongside appropriate safeguarding and confidentiality procedures to support vulnerable women and girls in Leeds who’ve experienced, or are at risk of experiencing, domestic violence, sexual abuse, trauma, and mental-ill health.
Throughout my time at Women’s Health Matters, I worked across the following projects:
Leeds Domestic Violence Service - Peer Support and Education Group The Key Change – A weekly support group for girls aged 11+, promoting coping strategies to aid safety, increase support networks and improve mental wellbeing.
Digital Support – A project supporting service users to access a digital lending library to develop digital and employability skills, as well as access online education courses.
Bluebirds – Working one-to-one with a caseload of clients on a three-month basis to provide in-depth, holistic support, including creating support plans, safety plans, actioning safeguarding concerns as appropriate and making referrals to relevant services.
Rosebuds – Leading sessions on a weekly support & education group for women whose children live elsewhere; sessions cover topics such as coping with change, effective communication, widening support networks, building resilience, confidence, self-esteem & the impact of abuse on women and children.
Energise and Empower – Running exercise groups for women/children seeking refuge/asylum in Leeds (dance, fitness & walking groups), in aim to improve physical & mental health.
Growing Together Group - Working in a local children’s centre to provide in-depth family support for children & mums to promote positive development, education and strengthen family relationships.
