As a retail assistant I steamed the charity shop clothes to get them ready for customers, out on the shop floor, pricing them and tagging them as well at recommended and reasonable prices. Following my manager's instructions, I was also able to experience some hours working with my colleagues, using the shop till to scan different items and process correct amounts. I have gained an immense amount of customer service skills, interacting with many people and finding the confidence to communicate in a coherent and understandable way to help as much as I can whilst working, whether within back of house merchandising or working front of house.
Nursery Assistant - Fir Vale Nursery - Sheffield

As part of my role, I completed a multitude of tasks including: playing with the children, helping with tidying up both indoor and outdoor spaces, engaging with both indoor and outdoor play, feeding the children and helping my colleagues with tidying up kitchen equipment and cutlery. I gained better confidence by speaking to my colleagues, developing creativity skills by engaging the young students and organising activities of my own to help build student autonomy with timetabled activities.
Catering Assistant - Family Friend - Sheffield

For one day, I was able to complete work through helping out a family friend as part of a catering team, catering specifically for a wedding. I arranged tables as part of the venue, serving guests throughout the day with their pallets and dietary needs along with eventually tidying up the venue and washing up the dishes which were used. It taught me about the stresses that come with working in the world of work and it also taught me how to overcome these very same stresses, allowing me to learn about working within a team and relying on others to become as organised as one can become.
