Logistics Manager at Orbia B&I (Wavin) (2023-12 – Present)
Employed as the Distribution Manager for the Doncaster site of Orbia B&I (Wavin). Responsible for maintaining stock inventory of over 200 SKU's at a value between £5-£6 million. Overseeing the entire dispatch process, ensuring that approx 120 orders per day are picked, packed and loaded in a timely fashion for delivery, utilising 30 direct heads and various forms of MHE.
Has budgetary control for the department, ensuring it is maintained and spent accordingly. Raises CAPEX requests for improvements to areas alongside their respective project plans. Recently pivotal in working alongside procurement team to secure a new packaging supplier, enabling cost and waste reduction.
Has completed two major milestones: overseeing a large temporary building project for freight consolidation and the redecoration of the warehouse office block, transforming it from a dilapidated state to a professional-looking building.
Warehouse Shift Leader at Wavin (2017-06 – 2024-01)
As a Distribution Shift Manager, responsible for the day to day running of the warehouse ensuring labour was allocated to the required pick runs for the days deliveries. Required forward planning as some orders contained very specific customer requirements that may require extra time to complete, such as labelling and weighing. Responsible for all stock when the Warehouse Manager was away, which could involve reporting directly to the Supply Chain Director on several key issues including attendance, health and safety and ongoing projects.
Role also included customer credit investigations and associated sub group meetings discussing the reasons and issues surrounding short deliveries. Chaired own Health and Safety meetings discussing all points of health and safety and reporting them up through the chain of command as required. Personnel administration tasks ranged from authorising holidays, personal development reviews and attendance management.
Team Leader for Hep2O Assembly at Wavin (2014-06 – 2017-06)
Required to lead from the front in a dynamic and flexible work area, manufacturing the successful Hep2O range of push fit plumbing fittings. Required a degree of shift and personal administration to ensure attainment targets were met and work to list followed accurately and effectively, with any issues reported in a timely fashion. As Leader of the department, responsible for the day to day administration of workforce, including authorising holidays if permissible, individual performance reporting and safeguarding of the workforce.
Communication essential between different departments, including Planning, Moulding, Stores and Distribution, with timely and accurate information submitted to the Production and Site Managers when required. Secondary role of Team Leader was to stand in for the factory Shift Leader when away, which included management of all areas within the factory, leading health and safety steer groups and conducting daily morning meetings to discuss the previous day's performance. When carrying out stand in duty, responsible for the entire site when no senior managers were available.
Material Handler at Wavin UK and Primetime Recruitment (2009-10 – 2014-06)
Role required timely replenishment of components to the assembly stations and the booking and inspection of completed products to works orders ready to be sent to distribution. Position also required standing in for the Team Leader as their representative in planning meetings and morning management meetings when they were not available. Communication was key in this role mainly focusing with Stores and Distribution.
Prior to this was employed as an Assembly Operative manufacturing Hep2O fittings using hand, semi automation and automatic automation processes. During time as Material Handler, was asked to step up twice to lead a continental workforce of up to 30 employees during periods of high intensity and change. This involved rapidly learning new Team Leader roles and moulding a new shift and training own Material Handler.
Tank Crewman/Regimental Combat Medical Technician at HM Forces – The King's Royal Hussars (Royal Armoured Corps) (2002-04 – 2009-06)
Trained to fight and maintain the Challenger 2 Main Battle tank, with responsibilities including first parades, fault finding and repair, supporting REME assets during major maintenance activities such as engine lifts and refits. As a gunner, trained to operate the gunnery systems of the Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank utilising lasers, control pads, thermal and magnified optics. Also trained as the loader/gunner of CVRT using hand controls and visual ranging techniques to operate the vehicles weapons system.
Responsible for the vehicle when the commander was not present using radio equipment and ensuring the crew was physically sustained through meal preparation and maintaining the vehicle in a state of operational readiness. Re-traded as a Combat Medical Technician and was posted to the medical centre. Working in a small team of five, a regiment of six hundred soldiers had to be medically fit to fight, treating the sick and wounded, monitoring the well-being of personnel and assisting doctors as required.
Additional military responsibilities included organising routine appointments, carrying out vaccination parades, checking patient documentation prior to deployment, conducting daily sick parade and referring personnel to Doctors or Nurses where appropriate. Responsible for the Regimental Aid Post (RAP), its equipment, and the control and reporting of controlled drugs. Served on operations in Northern Ireland and Iraq with the King's Royal Hussars and was awarded the Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service (QCVS) for actions in Iraq as a Team Medic.
