Interim Estates Manager (Projects then later Acting Director of Estates) at Gower College Swansea (2021-11 – 2023-08)

Returned to Gower College to act as interim project manager where scoped, tendered and managed projects. For last 7 months took on the position of acting Director of Estates until a suitable candidate started with the college.

• Scoped, tendered and managed projects ranging from passenger lift replacements to full implementation of an estate wide fully embedded BMS system
• Linked all sub metering of utilities and central control of all heating, ventilation and external lighting

Technical Services Manager at Telereal Trillium, DVLA PFI Contract (2019-12 – 2021-08)

Working on the DVLA PFI contract, acted as technical lead managing the hard services service partner and liaising with the client on all hard services related issues across the estate. Asset types included CHP, chillers, lifts and generators supporting main accommodation and associated data centres.

Estates Manager at Gower College Swansea (2019-04 – 2019-12)

Following relocation to South Wales, initially joined as interim Compliance Officer. Appointed as Estates Manager leading on the delivery of hard and soft services. Left the role after being head hunted to join the Telereal Trillium team at the DVLA.

Interim Facilities Manager at Curo (2018-05 – 2018-10)

Main aim was to design, implement and maintain an operational plan of all aspects of FM and to take the £5m Community building over at practical completion and commission into use.

• Accountable person responsible for all health & safety compliance through all phases including building occupation
• Identified & developed necessary policies and procedures required prior & after the handover period of practical completion
• Identified schedule of maintenance and repairs for hard & soft facilities management infrastructure in line with building specification and developed cost projection for budget setting
• Sourced and set-up maintenance appropriate contracts for maintenance and services demonstrating good value for money

Interim Facilities & Utilities Manager at Thermofisher Scientific (Oxoid) Basingstoke (2017-11 – 2018-05)

Managed the site soft & hard service teams & budgets across the site manufacturing, warehouse & raw material stores. Multi skilled teams included skilled fitters and electricians looking after site infrastructure as well as site service team. Site waste streams included animal by products and hazardous waste.

Interim Head of Estates Quality & Compliance at Serco, The Defence Academy (2016-10 – 2017-11)

Supporting the Head of Estates, main deliverable was development and delivery of new CAFM (CAFM Explorer) operating system across the site on 660 acre MOD site with 120 buildings.

• Verification of site asset register of circa 30,000 assets located within 120 buildings
• Reviewed all existing statutory and mandatory building certification to confirm compliance and check remedial actions were evidenced as completed
• Tasked non-compliant certification areas to operations and project managed to ensure outstanding works were completed
• Developed and reviewed planned maintenance policy and task instructions against industry best practice, British Standards and SFG 20
• CAFM system roll out encompassed planned preventative maintenance and reactive works linked to assets down to level 4
• Developed departmental quality audit programme reviewing all hard FM delivery across the site including asbestos management, control of contractors, service delivery, building files & statutory documentation

Interim Policy and Compliance Manager at Telereal Trillium (2016-01 – 2016-10)

Working for the Deputy Director of Policy and Compliance, carried out building facilities compliance audits on the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) estate across the UK. Based from home and planned own work schedule.

• Carried out pre-site visit GAP analysis reports researching each sites asset maintenance records and statutory certificates on CAFM system INFOR
• Recorded all non-compliances and ascertained if works orders have been raised to rectify defects
• Followed up with site visits with Engie building Facilities Manager lasting between one and three days
• Audits covered building services areas such as lifts, water risk assessments and controls, fire risk assessments and associated assets, building fabric, HVAC and plant room assets including boilers and calorifiers

Interim Facilities Manager at Royal Horticultural Society (2015-06 – 2015-11)

Reporting to the Group Head of Facilities, responsible for the management of buildings, property and site services of the Headquarters office complex and exhibition halls. Day to day duties involved delivery of both hard & soft services such as reception, 24-hour security as well as planning & monitoring of all building service works. Responsible for a small team of 4 in house staff on the soft services side with all hard FM works carried out by contractors.

• Supported Garden Facilities Managers across the UK involved in works relating to planned construction & newly updated CDM regulations for minor works
• Writing of facilities related policies and procedures based on statutory compliance & industry best practice including waste management, control of contractors & control of legionella

Interim Estates Facilities Manager at Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA), Department for Transport (2014-10 – 2015-05)

Fixed term contract role responsible for the management of buildings, property and site services of the Headquarters office complex in Bristol and the test centre in the Midlands. Responsible for a small team of 3 in house staff on the soft services side with focus on delivering first-class customer service.
