My name is Martin Wiegand, currently I am working as a research-only lecturer with the Biostatistics Group at the University College London. I have been working at various high-impact research institutions in academia, since obtaining my PhD in statistics in 2019. I very much enjoy working with statistical methods to solve clinical questions, addressing real-life issues with often messy, incomplete or data collected for other purposes.
My main areas of focus are survival and longitudinal models, joint and multi-state models, as well as clinical trials in a wide range of medical areas (psychology, oncology, oral hygiene etc.). I have grown increasingly frustrated with the often rigid, and theoretical approaches in academia, and believe my skills and experience would be better put to use in real-world applications in the industry.
