I’m currently in my final year of university studying Computer Science at the University Of Huddersfield.
I’ve always thought of my self as a bit of a geek when it comes to computers, ever since I left high school to do computing at college I then knew it was an aspect of my life that I wanted to pursue as a career.
My life as a student has been a rollercoaster over the last couple of years as covid hit halfway through my second year meaning everything moved to online learning which was a bit of a change for me. But I quite liked it, but I also missed the social side of going into university, talking to other students and my tutors. I think in a way, covid has made it clear to me that I could work both remote and in an office.
In terms of my skills in computing, I am comfortable in Microsoft azure, Java, python, android studio, Linux, VMWare and much more In my opinion I think I’ve grown up at the best time in terms of the way that technology has evolved and that’s one of the main reasons that I’ve been invested in in it so much. At 13 my dad bought me a prebuilt computer so I could play games with my friends, a week later I’d broken it, I somehow managed to overheat it to the point it no longer turned on. I definitely learned my lesson not to watch 2013 YouTube videos on how to make your pc faster!
In more recent times I’ve worked as a bartender in a village pub for around 4 and a half years. I’ve worked under 6 different managers in this time which in a way made me more versatile because each manager had their own way of running things. Working here has helped me progress in skills such as working in a team, communication skills, time management and much more.
I’ve worked for a real ale company for the past 5 years, this was throughout my completed of my computer science degree
