I am a very experienced and well-qualified ESL and EAP professional, with over ten years' teaching experience and four years' examining experience.
I have written and published three books related to teaching ESL, as well as articles for several websites. I have excellent verbal and written communication skills. I am sensitive to the needs of international students; well-organized; conscientious; cooperative and reliable. And I am able to handle heavy workloads and meet tight deadlines.
From 2006 to 2016, I worked as an ESL teacher in China. I excelled at materials writing and lesson planning and, in the classroom, I gave clear instructions and explanations and created a stimulating learning environment. I also gained invaluable experience in interacting with students from a wide range of educational and social backgrounds.
From 2016 to 2020, I worked as an IELTS examiner for the British Council. I demonstrated the ability to pay close attention to detail when marking written tests, and communicate effectively when conducting speaking tests. During this time, I gained a DipTESOL qualification and a certificate in Teaching EAP.
I returned to the UK at the end of 2020 and taught private online lessons focusing on exam preparation. Since early 2022 I have been working as an EAP tutor at Royal Holloway University and Kingston University. I provide instruction and guidance to enable international students to complete a wide range of academic English tasks. I monitor student progress and performance, provide feedback, and conduct summative and formative assessments.
In summer 2022 I taught on a 12-week EAP pre-sessional program at the University of Reading. I delivered face-to-face and online lessons and guided students through a wide range of engaging, student-centred tasks.
