I am a psychology graduate currently completing an MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology, with experience working in retail environments. I am skilled in communication, data handling, customer service, organisation and problem-solving. I have experience working collaboratively with colleagues and customers in a fast-paced environment. I am currently seeking opportunities that allow me to use my knowledge of psychology and performance to its fullest potential.
Retail Assistant at TK Maxx (2023-09 – 2025-08)
During my time at TK Maxx I developed my communication and teamwork skills through collaborating with colleagues from various backgrounds and dealing with customer's needs. Additionally, I developed my ability to work well in a fast paced environment with having to solve problems quickly being a key part of this development. I was trained on using tills, handling money, using click and collect, making and receiving phone calls to other stores and customers, and the best practice for maintaining a professional role within the company.
One key event that I took part in, during my time in this position, was the running of a charity fundraising tombola table. This had me advertising and selling tickets for the tombola to customers of the store and general passers by the store. I believe that I became a lot more confident after this experience and developed a good ability to communicate with people in a different way to my standard role.
Events and Communications Secretary at Hull University Canoe Club
Within this role, I was responsible for the networking between our club and other university clubs. This was done in person at events as well as over the phone. I had to maintain professional standards when collaborating with other members of the committee in the club particularly regarding health and safety training and overseeing new and unconfident members. I was also responsible for booking venues and planning events for the club as well as attending and organising meetings.
