Matthew Robertson

I am a 5th year Mechanical Engineering Masters student. I am a very hardworking, reliable and honest individual who is always keen to learn new skills and develop. I have an incredibly practical ‘engineering mind’ which fits well with my career goals and hobbies.

I can work well within a team but also feel at ease taking leadership with the ability to give direction and listen to people’s ideas. I have a desire to progress and become a valuable employee but also feel it would be my responsibility to ensure my efforts contribute to the overall success of your company.

Although I am a graduate coming into my “first” full-time engineering role I have a vast amount of experience as I have worked in the industry part-time for 5 years now. I have had a 3 month Auxiliaries Engineering Internship with BAE Systems, 2 month Mechanical engineering placement with Subsea-7, 5 months as a CAD draughtsman and machinist for FabMach as well as various smaller placements with oil and gas-related companies such as MDL and PX limited. I have also gained a lot of design and manufacture experience through the university Formula Student team, Tau Racing, where we design, manufacture and race a single-seater track car from scratch each year, I am currently the Technical Director managing a team of around 60 students.
