Megan Kirk

I recently graduated from the University of Leeds with a BSc in Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence, achieving a 2:1. Through my degree and previous work experience, I have developed skills in programming, software development, databases, AI and working with APIs. During my time at Dakin Flathers, I worked on an AI project to help the company find and prioritise potential customers.

I worked with the Companies House API and OpenAI, using CSV files, JSON objects and AI to collect company information, analyse financial information and find further details that returned a score allowing the sales team to efficiently target new and existing customers. I have a passion for software development and artificial intelligence. I am a responsible, motivated and hard-working person who enjoys learning new skills and working as part of a team.

I am now looking for an opportunity where I can use the skills I have developed through my education and work experience, while continuing to learn and develop my career.

IT Placement Student at Dakin Flathers (2025-07 – 2025-09)

AI/Software Development Project. Developed an AI project to identify and prioritise potential customers for Dakin Flathers.

• Used the Companies House API to collect company and financial information, working with CSV files and JSON data to process the information.
• Used the OpenAI API to analyse companies, identify their sectors, research potential contacts and assess their suitability as customers.
• Used Postman to test and work with APIs during development.
• Combined Companies House data with AI to reduce the amount of manual research required to identify potential customers.
• Developed a scoring system using AI to assess how suitable each company was as a potential customer, allowing the sales team to prioritise which companies to contact.
• Saved the collected information and scores into an Excel file for the sales team to use.
• Used Git for version control and managing changes during development.

Volunteer at Scope Charity shop (2021-09 – 2023-07)

Volunteering as part of Gold DofE.

• Organising and tagging stock ready for sale.
• Maintaining shop floor and making sure it was organised.

• Working as part of a team to help with the day-to-day running of the shop.

• Looked at software programs for inconsistencies.

• Gave feedback on game proposals and scripts.
• Worked with others to give feedback that could help improve the games and applications.
