Hello! My name is Melissa, British (born on the Isle of Wight) and I am 30 years old with over 10 years of childcare experience (10 as a full time nanny). I have always had a very mature head on my shoulder since a very young age and understand that working with children is a huge responsibility and I'm eager to take that responsibility. I am full of energy and refreshing ideas for activities.
I grew up on the Isle of Wight with my parents and only moved away for work, I try to go back and visit them and my friends as much as possible.
I live with my boyfriend of 10 years in Bromley, he was born in Italy but has been living in London for the past 12 years and currently works for the Ministry of Justice. I am still in the process of learning Italian and had some online lessons with a tutor.
I have always been a very caring person with a calm and nurturing persona. Ever since I can remember I have been drawn to working with children and I feel like it is my calling in life to encourage children to be the best they can be.
I adore working with children and believe they thrive on positive encouragement. Another belief of mine is that the outdoors and nature is very important and can really influence and inspire children, I love to have as much time outside playing and exploring, rain or shine!
I also believe children should have basic manners from the age of 2 and 3 years old, for example saying please and thank you, sitting nicely at a table when eating and putting their hand in front of their mouth when coughing; (I call it 'catching your cough') these are just some of the goals I can help your child to achieve.
I do own my own car and happy to use it for work but with child car seats, the additional work insurance and petrol paid by the family.
Some of my hobbies outside of work include:
During college (studying level 3 childcare and education) I gained 2 years experience working in schools and with children of all ages (6 months to 12 years) during this time I worked along side teachers to create activities that will challenge a child's development depending on their age and skill.
I first moved to London to work as a full time live in nanny for a lovely family with a 1 year old little girl and then a baby boy born December 2015. I stayed with them for 3 years and loved every second.
I then moved to another family with two children aged 8 months and a 2.5 years old. After 3 weeks of handover I had full time, sole charge of both children for 3 years. During those crazy Covid times, I had to help the children adapt to having both parents working from home and also tutoring both children.
I established a routine quickly that helped everyone transition smoothly in addition to all of my other nanny duties e.g washing, cooking and light housework. I had to say goodbye due to both children starting full time education.
In 2021 I moved in with my boyfriend and found my first live out nanny position caring for an 8 month old. For 2 years I worked 3 days a week, 11 hours a day working along side the grandparents who had her for the remaining 2 days, once she turned 2 years old she became a big sister. I continued to work with mum while she was on maternity leave and then she went back to work but this time only 4 days a week so I accepted to work another day.
From then I continued to work 4 days a week 11 hours a day with the sole care of the two girls. During this time there were multiple occasions when I had sole care of both girls 24/7 for sometimes as long as a week while both parents were away.
In September 2025 the mum made the huge decision to quit her job to spend more time with her girls, the family graciously kept my pay the same until the end of the year even though the hours contracted were not needed. We continued to work together thereafter with a decreased amount of hours. The mum and I have remained working together smoothly since however the family’s needs have changed and they will no longer be needing a nanny from September.
As with every family I leave, I am going to miss those girls immensely.
-bottle feeding
-sole charge of 2 children (one baby and one toddler)
Also from my experience working in schools, I can help prepare your child for school life; for example, in nursery your child will be able to thrive if they can already count to 10+, recognise the letters in the alphabet and their own name, plus basic skills like putting on shoes and zipping up coats. I do all this through play and creating fun and educational activities from an early age. (Your child won't even realise they are learning because they are having so much fun!)
Children learn through play and I am NOT afraid to get stuck in and messy!
Additionally, during my 10 years of nannying I have gathered a large abundance of healthy recipes that I have adapted for all of my charges to enjoy. I love to cook and really enjoy making food colourful and enjoyable for children.
I have a level 3 CACHE grade C diploma in childcare and education from the Isle of Wight College - CV available
Level 3 paediatric first aid training complete (renewal booked for 2026)
