I volunteered in a Care Home in Blackwood for a few months last year. I found this work very rewarding and it helped me to gain insight into building relationships and companionships. I chatted and read to the residents and listened to their stories and memories. I helped with arts and crafts, board games and music sessions. Volunteering here taught me to value consistent, regular commitment and I feel that my kindness, empathy and patience really developed strongly.
