I am a reliable, conscientious person with loyalty, dedication and ambition. I enjoy building strong working relationships with colleagues and clients. Whilst remaining calm under pressure, I can maintain high levels of accuracy and prioritisation. I am able to adapt to different situations with ease and I am seeking a new challenge.
Ramp Handler at ABM Stansted Airport (2024-04 – Present)
I am currently working as a ramp handler which involves taking ownership of the aircraft from landing to take off. There is a small turnaround for this and one of my responsibilities is ensuring the aircraft is ready on time for take off. Safety of the passengers and personal belongings is vital in this role as well as the safety of my colleagues and myself.
A high level of fitness is required for this role as well as good communication as liaising with the pilot, passengers and colleagues is priority.
Front Line Police Officer at Metropolitan police (2005-08 – 2024-02)
During this role I worked as a front line police officer on response team answering 999 calls. I completed an advanced driving course to enable me to carry out these duties. I had to work supervised and unsupervised usually attending high pressure calls with just my colleague.
The range of calls went from stabbings/fights/shootings to high risk missing people/serious domestic incidents. At these calls I had to show bravery, working under extreme pressure and showing empathy to victims and family members. Communication was key, as I had to liaise with other officers, supervisors and complete detailed reports.
I was happy to work unsociable shift patterns and when called upon to work extended hours.
Welder/Fabricator and Foreman at Rayleigh Steels (2002-03 – 2005-08)
During this role I took my skills as a welder to work as a welder/fabricator. This was a small company and I worked as the foreman on the shop floor answering to my manager and customers. I would be in charge of 3/4 work colleagues.
I would work on the shop floor constructing staircases, balustrades and working alongside builders who required steel work for construction. If my time was not on the shop floor I would go out on site, constructing what was made ensuring health and safety was met. If I was not constructing the job I would be pricing the job up.
We was also a steel holder so delivering materials to small and large companies was part of my role, providing good customer service skills.
Welding Apprentice and Welder at York International (1985-09 – 2002)
I left school and completed a 4 year welding apprenticeship with this company. The first year being at a training school, learning all types of engineering and 3 years company based. Throughout this apprenticeship I attended college on day release to learn the mechanics behind welding.
After the apprenticeship I stayed at the company building air conditioning units and sometimes if work was slow I would be moved to different departments to help out, showing flexibility. Whilst working here team work was key as the work was heavy and could be dangerous at times.
