Apprentice bricklayer

Whilst training to be a bricklayer in college I had many different apprentices, which helped me gain my qualification in the construction industry.

• General laboring i.e. passing bricks/blocks and materials to the professional bricklayer
• Tidying round the workspace
• Mixing materials
• Digging footings for houses and walls
• Levelling
• Laying sand for block paving
• General brick work i.e. building single, double and cavity walls, extensions and home remodeling
• Creating brick patterns using specialty bricks/blocks and using a variety of bricklaying techniques to match a range of jobs

Laborer - Knowsley Housing Trust

During my time at Knowsley Housing Trust, which was a placement through Fusion, I undertook tasks with various trades including Joiners, Electricians and Plasterers assisting them in carrying out their day-to-day roles that included fitting plastic doors and windows, general joinery, partial rewires, and carrying out electrical checks.

Earthing Assistant - MDA Rail

I worked for MDA Rail as an earthing assistant following the successful completion of a personal track safety course (PTS) in June 2012.

• Going out and isolating the track by assisting in the application of earthing cables to overhead structures and line equipment
• Bonding in order for the track to be made safe

• Taking on the responsibility of my own safety and the safety of those around me working in a hazardous environment
