Dr Yates started his teaching career at The Manchester Grammar School (one of the top independent schools in the UK). He moved to be Head of Chemistry at Bradford Grammar School and then onto Head of Chemistry and Head of Science at Bolton School. Now part time and a Lead Chemistry Practitioner at a MAT.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC).
He is Chair of Examiners for Oxford-AQA (International A-Level Chemistry) and Principal Examiner for AQA GCSE. Previous examining experience includes Principal Examiner for AQA A-Level, International Baccalaureate (examiner and team leader) and Principal Examiner for EDEXCEL international O-level.
In recent years he has delivered workshops to support teachers in Dubai, Egypt, Jordan and China.
Having represented the England Senior water polo team as well as coaching the GB Junior team he understands the importance of time management and achieving goals!
