For the past 3 years I have worked as a residential support worker in a childrens therapeutic home.
I worked for 18 years in an inner City High school, initially as a school nurse (first aider) later as a pastoral manager of a year group with the added responsibility of Team leader.
I am passionate about helping people realise their true potential, building their confidence and break cycles. As well as the background work of risk assessing, writing reports and working with other agencies so we have a well rounded picture of individual needs and how we can best support them.
Having qualified as a children, young people and families practitioner this year, I would like to move away from residential care and more into early help/ assessing roles, part-time or hybrid would be ideal.
With a child centred approach in the home, I leading weekly analysis of young persons individualised placement plan, risk assessment and outcome measuring tools, attend young persons/Child’s (Y.P) multi agency meetings, working closely with other professionals, collaborating with co-workers and colleagues to identify the best way forward for the young people in our care, by identifying their risks and working together to safeguard them. Working as a team to lower their risks through keyworking sessions and activities. While providing a voice for the young person during professional meetings.
