Role model as a payable Accountant for more than six years until Dec 2021 in a competitive and large - scale environment. Also I have gained almost 3 years of work experience in UK in the field of finance covering financial and administrative positions in different types of industries such as Education, Professional services, FMG Productions and Hospitality. I have more than 20 years working experience in Finance group of Sri Lanka Telecom PLC, the leading Telecommunication operator in Sri Lanka.
I joined SLT as a Book keeper and promoted to Assistant Accountant and Accountant positions. I have involved in preparation of financial accounts of SLT which is a Group with 8 subsidiaries including Mobitel a leading mobile operator in Sri Lanka. It involved preparation of group accounts consolidating parent and subsidiaries eliminating Intercompany transactions.
This included quarterly accounts which were published in the Stock Exchange. Various analysis was done after preparation of accounts which included ratio analysis and comparisons. Main KMP s were calculated and presented to the Management for review.
Actual expenses were compared with budgets and identified variations. I also involved in direct and indirect tax calculations and submission of tax returns. Turnover based taxes such as VAT, Telecommunication Levy, CESS, Nation Building tax were calculated and paid on target dates meeting the deadlines.
Tax also calculated setting off Output and Input taxes using billing system reports and ERP reports and payments made on due dates and submitted returns. I handled Income tax computation of the Company and made quarterly self- assessment tax payments on due dates and filed annual Income tax returns. For a period of 5 years, I have worked as a regional accountant.
That period gave me a good experience of a Managerial role and specially on handling Receivables and payables, Revenue collections and debt controls . I had to monitor the collections through cheques, credit cards, fund transfers and cash payments to the counters. Coordinating with customers and resolving billing disputes.
As a regional and Head office accountant, I involved in supplier and staff payments. These staff payments included almost all other staff related payments except salaries. Also handled outside Supplier payments for purchase of various goods and services.
Staff payments had to be made on or before due dates and always I have to monitor supplier payments to avoid penalties and interest due to delays. I had to involve in Bank Reconciliations also and Expenditure and Income Accounts analysis also. With my above experiences, qualifications and capabilities will help you to see quick positive results on your investment on me in the near future.
