I have recently finished university and looking to start a career in the health industry. The passion for this type of job started at a young age. I believe working in healthcare is all about making a difference to other lives. Following the recent experience I have gained through cardiac rehabilitation centre and physiotherapy, I believe I have the ability and willingless to learn new skills everyday. I am young, healthy, and have an enthusiastic approach to work.
I recently undertook a placement job in a cardiac rehabilitation centre. I was able to with patients who needed help recovering from a heart attack or surgery to treat heart disease. I worked closely with exercise physiologist and nurses by taking down notes of medical evaluation of paitents..
This means my organisational skills and basic use of IT skills were utilised at all time. I had to check every patients heart rate at each station to make sure patients is working around the target hear rate. I was able to work in strict procedures set by medical staff.I also lead warm up and cool down sessions for the patients.
Overall, I was really happy working with health care professionals, including cardiologists, nurse educators, nutrition specialists, exercise specialists and patients.
The most relevant education I currently hold is a BSc Sport and Exercise Science degree (2.1with honours degree classification).Throughout the degree my knowledge of the exercise physiological responses to exercise has advanced. I am able to observe and conduct metabolic assessments including, heart rate, blood pressure, maximal oxygen uptake and cardiovascular responses to different modalities to exercise. Therefore, I have basic practical knowledge when performing tests such as blood pressure, spirometry urinalysis and other health screening test.
