I originally started as a private GCSE Maths tutor, before expanding my services to include Science, History, and English at KS2 and KS3 levels. In my current role, I provide home tuition to SEN children, focusing on individualised support to help them overcome educational challenges.

In my current role with EM Tuition, a non-profit organisation, I work with Suffolk County Council to support children and young people facing barriers to learning. My primary focus is providing individualised tutoring to children with Autism, ADHD, emotional dysregulation, and other educational challenges. These children often struggle with mainstream schooling, and my role involves offering home-based tutoring as part of the National Tutoring Programme.

I employ a child-centred approach, ensuring that each student receives consistent, patient, and tailored support. By fostering a trusting relationship, I help children access the curriculum at a level and pace suited to their unique needs. My work involves creating engaging lesson plans, adapting teaching methods to suit each child, and monitoring their progress closely.

This role requires a high level of empathy, patience, and flexibility, which aligns with my passion for helping students overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential. The part-time schedule of 15 hours per week allows me to provide dedicated attention to each student while maintaining a balance with my other private tuition commitments.

Inner Light Learning, Thurston, BSE — Private tutor

May 2021 - Present

I currently lead "Inner Light Learning," a private tutoring enterprise, providing personalised educational support to students in KS2, 3 and 4. My focus lies on GCSE and A-level tiers, drawing from my degree-level understanding of Mathematics and science. I mentor both online and in-person. While Mathematics remains the primary focus of my tuition, I also offer English and Science up to KS3. I take particular pride in extending my support to students with Special Educational Needs and mental health challenges, aiding them in overcoming obstacles and achieving remarkable progress. I have developed a diverse skill set, including adeptness in mentoring, communication, active listening, empathetic understanding, and patience. I tailor my tutoring methods to each individual, adapting how I teach to better fit different children's needs. I also manage administrative tasks, maintain online correspondence, engage in graphic design, marketing initiatives, advertising campaigns, finance and accounts. I recently built a website to support my students and promote my business, as well as developing multiple digital courses.

I decided to study with The Open University so that I could run my own businesses alongside university. I chose combined STEM (Science, technology, engineering and maths) so that I could research and learn a variety of subjects and have gained a wide breadth of knowledge.
