About

As a student on a level 3 animal care course. I have developed hands-on skills in how to care for my two dogs as well as practical and theoretical learning at college. I have learnt how to health check, provide enrichment for and know the nutrition needs of each animal at the farm, as well as the skills to clean enclosures correctly.

I am compassionate and hard working and am looking forward to new experiences to help guide me in my decision to pursue dog grooming, animal care, and pet care as a career.

Experience

Dog Day Care Assistant - Barkley & Co - Wakefield

I originally started as a work experience student, however in October of last year they gave me a job. I left the job due to the management and personal problems at the time. I was a Dog Day Care Assistant (part time - I did end up working most of the time due to low staff). I took a course on Health and safety, and aid towards dogs.

I looked after the dogs in the arenas, making sure there was no injuries, fights, or any concerns. I would also clean up after them, and clean all the different rooms and hallways. I would also take note if they went to the toilet.
I would take photos of the dogs for their parents, and give them a review of how their day went. I would bring the dogs in/out from the parents in reception, took payments for the day or treats/toys, so I know how to speak to customers.
I have a huge love for dogs (and all animals in general!!!) and would give them lots of attention. I would give them cuddles and pets, play with the toys, and give them treats. I would be mindful of which dogs could not have the treats due to allergies, and make sure to give them some of their own treats. Each day some owners would bring in the dog's food, and I would be tasked with giving it to them all in the kennel area.
I made sure to come in everytime I was requested in, even at late notice. I would also stay later if needed.
