As the registered Psychologist, I am responsible for the clinical psychological care of adult males residing within the secure ward in a mental health hospital. I consult on complex cases and create formulations for patients in order to provide effective, meaningful treatment. I have developed experience using the START risk assessment tool in order to support the Multi-Disciplinary Team with risk management.
In addition, I supervise Assistant Psychologists in their practice by using models and coaching skills I have developed throughout my career, as well as supporting them with group facilitation. I gained a range of experience working within a Young Offender Institution, housing male children aged 15-18 years, as well as the National team between 2020-2022. Working within the YCS means that I was part of a regional team of all YOIs and STCs around the country, allowing me to travel between sites and gaining a breadth of knowledge and experience. I developed my competence in Interventions, Assessments, Research, Consultancy and Training.
Specifically, I have experience in Treatment Management of Interventions, delivering manualised Psychological 1:1 and group programmes as well as designing bespoke individual interventions for complex children. I completed short term risk assessments on a regular basis, as well as risk assessments (SAVRY) for life-sentenced children for parole boards.
