• I am a competent writer.

I recently graduated with a 1st class BA (hons) in English literature and creative writing. A fiction piece from my portfolio was picked up and published by an American, university literary journal. 

• I have accrued 10 years of experience in the energy sector. 

After achieving an HND in multi-discipline engineering, I worked in a variety of operational roles in the offshore oil and gas sector and, more recently, the renewable energy sector. 

During my career, I have gained a complex operational understanding across a broad range of energy infrastructures and assets (CV), I did this through a constant engagement with technical documentation and procedures. As such, I am confident I can research and understand any Technical documentation I encounter, before converting it to simple and understandable prose. 

• I am demonstrably committed to hard work and personal development. 

It took me seven years to obtain a Open University Degree in my spare time. I had to balance my time between studying and working full time as an offshore control room operator. 

• I will hit the ground running. 

I have recently completed a Linkedin learning course on business writing style and I'm currently enrolled in the APMP foundations qualification in bid and proposal writing. 

I expect to obtain this credential by the end of the month. 

It has been long term goal of mine to enter the technical writing sector. Landing a writers / editing role would mark the end of this seven year project, it would also mark the beginning of career that I can be passionate about.

8 years of engineering and operations experience working in the oil and gas sector. I graduated from my apprenticeship and progressed from a production operator to a senior gas operator, before working for 3 years as the main control room operator on an offshore oil and gas installation. - Petrofac, 2013 - 2020

2 years of engineering and operations experience in the renewable energy sector. I worked as an operational controller for 18 months before graduating to a a Senior controllers role in 2022.
