Experience
Groom at Little Munden Equestrian (2025-11 – 2026-08)
I joined Little Munden Equestrian in November 2025 as a groom. In this role, I worked with a small team of a mixture of full time and part time staff. I also worked independently when required. This role included catching in and turning out horses, grooming and tacking up, mucking out, making feeds and exercising horses and ponies of varying breeds and temperaments, both on the ground and under saddle, as well as any other additional jobs or services as and when necessary.
I also on occasion ran the shift, meaning I delegated jobs to the other members of staff, including which horses to turn out or catch in and when, writing a muck out list for each member working on that day, exercising horses, as well as dealing with vet and farrier and communicating with clients as required.
Yard Supervisor at Shardeloes Farm Equestrian Centre (2020-07 – 2025-10)
I joined Shardeloes Farm Equestrian Centre in July 2020 as a groom working on the riding school yard, as well as three additional livery yards. This role included catching in and turning out horses, grooming and tacking up, mucking out, clipping and additional exercising of horses and ponies of various temperaments and breeds. In August 2022, I was promoted to yard supervisor of one of the livery yards.
In this role, I took on the care of 10 privately owned horses and worked with and guiding another groom. I also worked sole charge and am very competent doing so. My main responsibilities included basic every day care (catching in, turning out, feeding, rug changes, mucking out, making feeds, filling haynets etc).
I also liaise with owners daily to ensure excellent horse welfare is maintained, making any necessary changes and treating each horse based on their individual requirements. I have experience clipping horses in a variety of different ways depending on factors best suited to the horses requirements and workload. I have experience with rehabilitation of horses from injuries or following return to work after lameness, following a rehabilitation programme provided by the vet.
I have experience in doing stock counts and ordering of feed. I have experience teaching all ages and abilities in a riding school environment.
