I am a mature, confident person who is looking to shape my future within the teaching sector.
I have a positive outlook on life with an outgoing personality, having the natural ability to lend myself to the needs of others, giving praise, empathy and guidance when required.
I am able to adapt to any situation and feel that my personality and strength of mind gives me a solid basis to help others in my chosen career path.
A great deal of my family live in England, my Aunt is a supervisor in a nursery and as the school holidays are different to Scotland, whenever we visit, I go into the nursery and assist with the day care of the children. The duties involve helping with learning activities arranged by the staff, general cleaning of the nursery and storytelling. This has been very good experience for me and a good insight into the workings of a professional nursery and how to deal with young children.
I have also taken a part time position in child minding to help a busy working family with two children. This has also given me valuable experience of dealing with children of a young age to assist with my chosen career path.
I Recently completed my HNC Childhood Practice course and worked in a nursery for the past year due to my placement. This was an amazing opportunity, and I learned a great deal due to my time at the nursery and through my course. I am great with children and have knowledge in areas regarding them. During my time at the nursery I created activities for the children, worked with children that had additional support needs, carried our risk assessments and much more.
I worked in a local café (The Tudor Coffee House) as a waitress. This involved team working, good communication, being approachable and adaptable, and patience. This was a great part-time job and allowed me to work on my confidence in hospitality. I am confident in my role as a waitress and the skills this job required. I gained and improved my skills throughout this job.
