I’m a Customer Assistant in Morrisons, skilled in Critical Thinking, Customer Service, Communication, and Teamwork.
I am currently going into my 4th year of a honours degree in Neuroscience at the University of Glasgow, demonstrating key critical thinking and analysis with a wide understanding of the molecular basis that underlies neurocogntition and how this is dysfunctional in neurodegeneration.
I also have laboratory experience completing accurate micropipetting, laboratory calculations, running agarose gels, PCR preparation and analysis, DNA extraction/purification and laboratory safety.
I undertook the Knowledge and Creativity course in the university of Glasgow where Arts and Humanities students and life Science students were given the opportunity to see how the other degree group thinks, analyses, perceives research, how their techniques differ and much more.
During summer I undertook a Medicine summer school in the University of British Columbia, Vancouver Canada. I covered the psychiatry and pharmacology of affective disorders. We covered many case studies, background of disease and diagnosis/treatment relating to Parkinson’s, Dementia, traumatic brain injury, Tourette’s, Bipolar disorder, Depression and many more. We also observed patient videos and practiced identifying different symptoms and behaviours noted in specific disorders.
I am currently in my final year, working on my thesis that is based in cognitive neuroscience. My study looked at how the human brain makes memory associations and if there is a directional component to this, depending on where in an event segment the memory probe comes from.
I am very keen to pursue research in my post-graduate years, hoping to start off with assisting in ongoing research once I graduate. The areas I am most interested are; neurodegnerative disorders, traumatic brain injury, stroke, neuromodulation and pharmacological interventions.
As mentioned I have experience in:
University of British Columbia summer school in medicine/neuroscience/pharmacology.
