Nicolas Whitelaw's professional experience spans roles in planning, energy, and environmental consulting. As an
Associate EIA Planner at SLR Consulting, he project managed several solar and BESS projects, producing reports and reviewing technical documents. At Locogen, as a Consents Manager, he worked on planning and Section 36 applications for solar and battery storage projects across the UK. He also managed wind repowering and rooftop solar projects and was involved in community consultation and post-consent condition discharge.
From 2015 to 2022, Whitelaw was a self-employed Town Planner and Energy Assessor, providing environmental input for planning applications, producing appeals, and calculating building U-values to create EPCs. He also conducted domestic energy and legionella risk assessments and managed client relationships. His earlier experience includes a role as an Environmental Planner at Scott Wilson Plc, where he managed transport studies and prepared chapters for EIA reports.
