Nigel Downing

I am a qualified Accountant who has led a business alongside negotiating contracts with partners and suppliers to enhance the commercial value of the various p&ls. Whilst at the AA, I led the AA Cars team who advertised used cars, putting customers in touch with dealers, and during my time their, increased sales, implemented subscription services and launching 4 new products to treble the profit. Currently, I am the Commercial and Finance Director at Markerstudy, liaising with key partners and looking after the commercial value of the business, ensuring budget is met and growth plans are achieved.

I have managed sales, operational, call centre, customer service and finance teams, and am looking for a managing director role where I can lead a business and make a difference in growing a customer base and profitability.

After training as an accountant, I work for the AA for 12 years, working my way across a diverse range of businesses. Most significantly, I worked on a few acquisitions as the lead finance representative and after on of them, took charge of the day to day running of that business with 70 employees reporting to me. Taking charge of a small business, but bring it in line with the AA, cross-selling products and services alongside building the EBITDA.

I have been working for Markerstudy over the past year, leading the commercial and finance functions, working on a number of acquisitions and delivering growth in profit. Having run a division at the AA and controlling the commercial and financial functions of a business in my last couple of roles, I am looking to lead a business in the next stage of their plans.

I am a degree educated, CIMA Qualified Accountant with 20 years experience working in service and supply industries.
