Having completed a Diploma in Child Care, I gained Distinction and a Level 3 Child Care Award. This allied with the continual care I provided for my disabled sister growing up, the situations I faced as part of a large family of ten and then having four children of my own. As a result, I have been given much practical experience in real-time situations, the ideal place to put my skills to use.
I am also studying my third and final year at the University of Chester, where I am studying a working degree – BA (Hons) degree in Working with Children, Young People and Families.
My other areas of experience include being a live-out Nanny, Charity fund-raising manager, Mental Health Charity Trustee, working within an EBD Children's Home, and being a carer for my mentally and physically disabled husband. I have found all these roles beneficial in improving my interpersonal and social skills, which are integral in achieving good rapport with those around me. In addition, all these roles have cemented my desire to work with children.
I enjoy writing, reading, and furthering my learning journey in my spare time. Recreationally, I like to swim and spend time with my family. I believe it is vital to find a balance between your professional and personal life. I am already well-grounded in this area with a strong friend and family base.
Above all, I want to make a positive difference to children and their families, no matter how big or small. From my personal life experiences, I am aware that working with children in any capacity is certainly not a profession to be entered into lightly. However, I am an adaptable, hard-working individual, and working towards such a rewarding career path is a privilege.
With over ten years’ training, education, and experience behind me in relation to children, young people, and their families. I have developed strong skills in supporting vulnerable children and their families. I am a truly passionate individual when it comes to providing the best child centred care, safeguarding and life experiences for those I become engaged with professionally and personally.
I have an excellent record of working productively with children and families in various settings. I am competent in handling difficult situations sympathetically but with professionalism.
