I am currently 17 years of age and I am eager to start working to gain experience from inside the workspace and to start earning my own money. I go to Alder Grange sixth form which is where I'm studying business and sports studies. I also play football with two different clubs one being U18's and the other being an open age group which gives the opportunity to mix well with a variety of different ages.

Football Coaching - KIXX Burnley - Burnley

I have worked at KIXX Burnley football coaching, helping and supporting young children teaching them the basic skills of football and how to work together as a team. However, the hours available at the time as they had only just opened were only 2 hours a week 9-11 am and it wasn't possible to get there by public transport on time each week because bus times are limited on Sundays. This resulted in me having to stop working for them but i received very positive feedback from the leading coaches, parents and even the children I coached.

Had there been more/different hours available I would have been able to continue working there.

Work Experience - Electrician - IPH electricals ltd

I completed my work experience during both my time in year 10 and 12 as an electrician at the company IPH electricals ltd, working alongside a group of skilled electricians whilst completing work on a retirement home and the Factory Hanson Springs. Some of the skills I gained during this time were communication skills, both with the people I was working with and the residents and factory workers that were present whilst we were working, making sure they were at ease with the work that was involved. I also picked up key listening skills as I had to make sure that I could understand the instructions that were given to me so I could follow them thoroughly and safely.

Labourer - Family run construction business

I have worked over several different school holidays for my family run construction business, during this I have developed further communication skills with the people I was working with and the customers of the jobs I was working at. By working at this job I have gained a lot of experience and a variety of skills for example, co-ordination skills, safe lifting skills which has given me the overall understanding of health and safety regulations, problem solving skills and practical skills and taking in and remembering important information. I had to and was able to adapt to different working environments as we worked on a variety of different sites both at business premises and residential.
