I completed my A Levels Summer 2020 and went to University of East Anglia in autumn 2020 to start a 3-year degree in Biomedicine. I stayed at the university in student accommodation until Christmas 2020, where due to the pandemic, all the lectures were delivered online. I continued the course online from home for several more months, however, I have decided that I would prefer to learn in an interactive working environment with some element of guidance and mentoring.
With this in mind, I started working for an engineering company where I was employed on an apprenticeship scheme as an Engineering Operative, to give me some practical skills, some work experience and a career path, however the role has not been as challenging as I’d hoped and there is little opportunity for career development. The day release college course I have attended alongside this apprenticeship has given me the basics regarding health and safety and practical machining skills and whilst I have enjoyed these elements it had made me realise, I would like to develop more business skills with the ability to influence the outcome of the project that I am working on.
I enjoy problem solving and tend to have an analytical bias and see these as a key strength that would support a career in construction. I relish the opportunity to build on these skills and become a valuable team member.
