- Assisted project managers with daily tasks, including site inspections and progress reporting.
During my summer placement at AECOM, I had the invaluable opportunity to immerse myself in a dynamic and innovative environment, contributing to real-world projects, including the installation of new cycle lanes in surrounding Willenhall/ Walsall area and Willenhall train station. During my placement I also got to work weekly in multiple different fields in engineering, including teams in: Ground engineering, Tunnelling, Bridges and Structures, this variety of experiencing working with multiple teams, enhanced my understanding of civil engineering on a practical level. As a summer placement student, I actively engaged in diverse tasks, ranging from site inspections and data collection to collaborating with experienced professionals on the design and execution of sustainable infrastructure projects. This experience not only refined my technical skills, particularly in utilizing industry-standard software and adhering to regulatory standards but also fostered my appreciation for the interdisciplinary nature of engineering. AECOM's commitment to fostering creativity and sustainability aligned seamlessly with my academic pursuits, and I am proud to have been part of a team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of excellence in the field. This placement has not only solidified my passion for civil engineering but has also equipped me with the practical insights necessary to thrive in the professional realm.
