• Undertake independent emergency operations including laparoscopic appendicectomy, adhesiolysis for bowel obstruction, repair of gastrointestinal perforations including duodenal perforation, and repair of obstructed and strangulated hernias.
• Participate in emergency laparotomies under consultant supervision, including bowel resection and anastomosis.
• Undertake laparoscopic cholecystectomy and bowel resection/anastomosis under consultant supervision.
• Conduct independent general and colorectal clinics and results-review clinics, formulate management plans and discharge to primary care where appropriate.
• Undertake independent elective theatre sessions, primarily performing incisional, umbilical, paraumbilical and inguinal hernia repairs, lipoma excision, haemorrhoidectomy and fistulotomy/fistulectomy.
• Supervise junior doctors on ward rounds and on-call shifts and provide teaching in ward, clinic, on-call and theatre settings.
• Participate in clinical governance, including M&M meetings, case presentations and service improvement.
