- Booking of specimen correctly on the Winpath & Epic system on computer after performing demographic checks of the patient specimen with the request form.
- Make the cut up ready for the consultant and assisting them in their cut ups like GI, non GI, Biopsy etc on Lexacom and put the blocks for processing after they are fixed.
- Performing BMS transfer of biopsy, polyps and other small dissection according to SOP and taking in charge of the cut-up area.
- Preparing histology H&E slides for Pathologists after processing, embedding, microtomy (30 blocks/hour) and H&E staining and maintaining the quality standards.
- Performing immunohistochemical test and special stains as requested by Pathologist.
- Good knowledge of immunohistochemistry and special stains.
- Validating and verifying the chemicals and antibodies before using it on the patient slides.
- Preparing control blocks and keeping a record of it after validating it by Pathologist.
- Dealing with the frozen section on the fresh tissue specimen using Cryostat and the Genome specimen. Performing IENFD skin biopsy.
- Chasing reports with the external lab and meeting turnaround times.
- Performing QC slides after mounting and passing on to Pathologist after matching with the request form.
- Maintaining the records of chemicals and stains and place an order when required.
- General housekeeping of the laboratory, cut up area and maintaining the tissue processor, embedding station and the staining machine.
- Dealing with the incorrectly labelled specimen by contacting the source and error log it if there's any discrepancies and raising Occurrences and Datix on Q pulse.
- Filing of slides, blocks and forms after completion.
- Training new staff and keeping training records up to date. Performing Audits.

- Booking of samples correctly in the LIMS system in computer by matching their identity with the request form.
- Preparing different types of agar and media plates by sterilising in the autoclave.

- Ordering of Media, Disposables and Glassware for the Laboratory from the Supplier.
- To check orders and receive goods, ensuring safe storage of stocks.

- Performing Free Fatty Acid, pH, Water Conductivity & Salt Analysis of the samples using wet chemistry technique.
- Reporting the results to my manager and preparing the reports in the computer using excel and word spreadsheet and dealing with the external lab for the results.
